This course introduces students to philosophy by focusing on a number of fundamental themes in moral philosophy. We sometimes say that an action is ethically correct or incorrect. In this course, we will pose a series of questions concerning such assertions in order to gain a better understanding of them.

the nature of morality. We will research opposing responses and critically engage with them to analyse their strengths and shortcomings in relation to all of the issues. First, we'll consider what we're doing when we say something is wrong: are we expressing a negative emotional reaction to it, sharing our own opinion, or making an objective assertion about the activity that could be wrong? Second, we shall investigate what motivates people to take action.
