Transforming Education Together: ESD-NET Global Meeting in Tokyo

The ESD-NET Global Meeting in Tokyo, which commenced on December 18, 2023, marked a successful gathering at the United Nations University with the presence of representatives from more than 80 countries. This year’s meeting focused on sharing the implementation and progress of the ESD-2030 national initiatives, trends, challenges and innovations within the framework of Agenda 2030 and discussing the action points for the next two years 2024-2025.

Representing Central Asian countries, esteemed attendees included Ms. Aida Akhmetzhanova, Vice President of  Altynsarin National Academy of Education in Kazakhstan; Ms. Aida Aidarkulova, Executive Director of CAPS Unlock in Kazakhstan; Ms. Olga Bryzgalova, Senior specialist of the department for school and extracurricular education of Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan; Mr. Farrukh Khudoydodzoda, Head of international relations department, Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan; Ms. Orzugul Goyibova, Chief specialist of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan; and Mr Nurbek Teleshaliyev, Education Programme Specialist from UNESCO Almaty Regional Office. 

During the Regional group meetings for Asia-Pacific region, these representatives presented the ESD national  initiatives, plans, and priorities of their respective countries.  This meeting also allowed representatives from Central Asian countries to identify the regional priorities with their counterparts from the Asia-Pacific region, and establish new professional links and partnerships with global partners.
